Super Wet Tumescent Liposuction

Super Wet Tumescent Liposuction | Newport Beach Plastic Surgery

Tumescent liposuction, also known as “Super Wet” liposuction is a technique that uses very dilute local anesthesia that is infiltrated into the fat.  Those areas become swollen and firm from the excess volume, and the epinephrine in the wetting solution causes the blood vessels to contract, minimizing blood loss during surgery.  This method allows the surgeon to treat a larger area then he/she would be able to do without the infusion of the solution. The procedure can be done under a local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general anesthesia.  Dr. Bandy evaluates each person as well as the areas to be treated and can help guide you as to what would be your best selection of anesthesia.  Because the local anesthesia that is infused persists for many hours, there is minimal need for narcotic pain medications after surgery.
